While we will be hiking and rafting in the heat of the summer, the evenings at elevation and on the river can get chilly. For this reason, please bring clothing appropriate for both warm activities as well as chilly evenings. If you need to borrow some equipment please call Jens at 406.381.2793 or e-mail at info@PereaMinistries.org well ahead of camp and we will try to accommodate you.
Please note that if a camper does not have the required equipment for an activity, they may not be allowed to participate. The required gear is essential because without it, a camper will put themselves and those around them in harms way.
Borrowed gear is on a first come first serve basis and is extremely limited. If you have not pre-arranged the use of equipment with Perea Ministries, we assume you have all of your own personal gear. Perea will provide group gear such as tents and stoves for all campers as well as safety equipment for white water rafting and rock climbing.
Essential gear
- Backpack with frame (internal or external frame) for overnight hike
- Packable Sleeping bag w/stuff sac rated to 35 degrees or colder
- Packable Sleeping Pad
- Water bottle w/sealable lid (preferably two)
- Modest Swimsuit
- Hiking boots (broken in, if they are new boots, you WILL get blisters)
- Hiking socks (non-cotton)
- Old sneakers or water sandals w/straps (for rafting)
- Rain gear (a poncho is not adequate)
- Warm non-cotton jacket (fleece or softshell)
- Plastic or metal plate and cup and utensils (for hike)
- Bug repellent
- Warm hat/Beanie
- Prescription Medication (if applicable)
