Mentorship, discipleship, Christian leadership training, whatever you want to call it, Jesus commands that all of us do it. We are supposed to make disciples. When I think about making disciples I look at Jesus as our example. How did Jesus make his disciples? What was his strategy? What did He do? Jesus chose 12. He never neglected the masses, but He invested in 12. He spent time with them, told them more than anybody, He explained things to them that nobody else was privileged to.
Jesus did not pick a few guys and meet with them in a small group over coffee on Monday night from 7-8:30. Jesus lived life with them. They saw Jesus weep over Lazarus, talk to the Samaritan woman, heal the leper, and tear into the Pharisees. They were with him when He changed water into wine, when He gave His sermon on the mount, and made a whip to drive out people selling things in the temple.
That is the heart of Perea School of Ministry. We live life together; we laugh together, cry together, pray together, and hurt together. Students see Moe and I live our family out before them. They get to see our ups and our downs. Through intentional conversations and being around each other discipleship happens in a biblical, Christ like way. This form of discipleship is rare in the world today. It is rare to find godly people willing to invest their whole life into others, Moe and I are more than willing, we are excited and called. It would be an honor to invest not only the Gospel, but our very lives into you as well.
