Imagine sitting on your sleeping bag in a tent at night with a friend who you have been praying for 5 months straight for. A friend who you got to camp, a friend who you belayed on the end of a rope, a friend who carried your extra weight when you couldn’t take another step, a friend who’s eternity is about to change forever. All week they have heard about this Jesus guy, who He is, and what He did. 10 minutes ago they heard that Jesus died on a cross so they can have a relationship with God. Now you have a slip of paper in your hands with three questions on it, one of those questions asks your friend if they want to start a relationship with Jesus and turn their eternity from hell to heaven. Imagine every ounce of sweat, every prayer, every conversation, coming to this point. “yes” they respond, and in that moment, life is never the same for them again.
Now imagine sitting with those same friends, but this time it’s 3 months after Camp Perea and every week you have been showing them who Jesus is by spending time with them, praying with them, and reading the Bible with them. One year after camp, see that same friend inviting their other friends who don’t know Jesus to Camp Perea and their lives getting radically transformed by Jesus. That is Camp Perea.
For youth groups, we will come months before Camp Perea to help train and equip your leadership team. We will help them develop a heart for the lost. After Camp Perea, we will come and help train your leaders how to disciple the friends they brought to camp. Through this process you will find that your teenagers will grow YEAR ROUND in their relationship with Jesus, rather than just spurts that don’t last while at camp.
Typical Camp Perea Schedule*
Day 1: Arrival and games
Day 2-4: Overnight backpacking trip, Geocaching
Day 5: Rock climbing
Day 6: White water rafting
Day 7: Pack up and head home
