My name is Lyle Lathrop and I am married to Ingrid. We have four children between us. I have been in Law Enforcement for over thirty years and am currently a Lieutenant in a moderately sized police department in Western Washington. My greatest desire is to see others, as well as myself, have a truly committed, vital, and real relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In 2001 God got my attention and changes began taking place in my life. I finally began fully surrendering my will to His. My desire is to see young people not make the same mistakes I made and be passionate about dying to themselves, no matter what the cost, in order to follow Christ. Being a board member of Perea Ministries is something I believe God has called me to. I count it a privilege to be involved in the lives of young adults, both in the Perea School of Ministry as well as Camp Perea, as they learn what a surrendered life to Christ looks like.
I asked Jesus to be Lord of my life in 1995 at an adventure camp called JH Ranch. I grew up trying to get out of going to Sunday school. While I knew a lot about God, He did not open the eyes of my heart until I was 15 years old. Since then I have been passionately pursuing a relationship with Him. I beg Him to refine me, give me wisdom, and use me to influence those around me to fall in love with Him. I have worked training young ladies in a variety of settings for ministry, as well as spent years in leadership roles in youth and outreach ministries in WA.
God has created me to be an exhorter, and has given me a passion for one on one discipleship and investment. I am a firm believer that God always gets the most bang for His buck, so while I have seen many grow, I have been grown much as well in the process. Praise Him that none of us are finished and that He always knows how to refine and challenge us where we are at!
I gave my life to the Lord when I was 21, graduating from college. I am originally from Colorado and have lived in Washington for 35 years. I am married to Lyle Lathrop and I have two adult daughters and two adult stepdaughters, and between them three precious grandchildren. God has grown in me a continuing desire to have an intimately personal, submitted relationship with Him. My passion is to be like Christ, and be able to honestly say that I do only what He, God, tells me to do and to say only what He tells me to say. I have been given the privilege to disciple/mentor women who also desire the same thing as well as lead to Christ, those who haven’t known Him. Being on Perea’s Board is one of the things that I know God asked me to do. I take this call from God very seriously, since He is asking of this Board to model Christ to the people living in the House as well as to be the visible image of Him at the summer camps.
I fell in love with Jesus through Young Life in 1995. Ever since I have tried to serve Him. I first served as a student leader for Young Life, then as student staff, leader, program director, and intern. I was a youth pastor in Marysville WA for 3 years before coming to Montana to start Perea Ministries. I worked for the Missoula Forum for Children and youth for a year until the Lord called me to go to Liberty Seminary full time. I received my Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in leadership in 2005 and am licensed with the Montana District of the Assemblies of God. My heart is in seeing teenagers fall in love with Jesus, disciple young adults, and the outdoors. Anything outside I will try if I haven’t already.
I fell in love with Jesus when I was 14 years old. I had grown up going to church but it wasn't until then that i realized that the Creator of the Universe wanted a relationship with me, not just for me to go to church and youth group but to walk with Him and get to know Him. From early on, I was involved in youth ministry, for 5 years I volunteered with Young Life and for 3 more years I was the Youth Coordinator at my church in Marysville. I have recently moved to Missoula, where I am excited to see how God uses me and changes me. I love watching teens "get it" and realize that Jesus is awesome. God has really created me with a love to serve others, there is no task too big or small that I won't enjoy doing. I also love being able to pour into young women's life and walk through good times and hard time with them. I am grateful that each day I can wake up and praise the Lord for all that he has and is doing.
